MM’s Severe Wx Concerns

Monday would be the most likely day for severe weather during this forecast period. However, there are currently no clear signals for that kind of weather. I’ll monitor this closely.

MM News

The goal to buy 12 tablets for my kids MM classes has been met…. and just in time for my birthday!!! Thanks to generous donations (THANK YOU!) and a grant from Volunteer Electric (THANK YOU!), we raised enough money for the 12 tablets!!! How awesome is that!?

The last MM class was postponed due to weather. That class has been rescheduled for March 10.

Weekly newsletter subscription proceeds go toward supporting my education outreach, primarily including the monthly class for kids that I teach at TCAT. Try a free sample at https://meteorologistmarkpro.com/ and go to the “Free Sample” link. Subs are only $5 per month or discounted at $50 a year. Each week’s newsletter primarily focuses on the weather of the plateau. This week’s newsletter focuses on the sound of thunder and what determines how loud or long-lasting it is. It’s an interesting thought, for sure!

Drought Data

The data cutoff for Drought Monitor maps is each Tuesday at 7 a.m. The maps, which are based on analysis of the data, are released each Thursday at 7:30 a.m. This week’s latest map is seen below. For much more drought info, please follow my link to https://meteorologistmark.com/drought-info/.

Saving our Hardwoods

Please help us work to save the hardwoods in the Catoosa Wildlife Management Area for future generations. Please consider signing the petition to save our hardwoods from being harvested at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSflavN4JIaw4nN18fYF3-pw9GMYYo2-D5D5Di6kB0hF7uF1SQ/viewform.

An informational meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 8, at 6:00 pm at the Community Complex. Marvin Bullock from the White County Chamber of Commerce will give a very helpful presentation on how to make your voices heard. His work to save the Bridgestone-Firestone Wilderness area of White County has given him a wealth of information to share. Representatives from the TWRA have also been invited.

I’m working on a Facebook page dedicated to saving the Catoosa hardwoods. Stay tuned for that!
