Summary
The arctic front is currently crossing the plateau. Temps will soon begin to tumble. My temp has just started dropping.
Make sure to be home safe and sound by 10:00 pm or sooner. Don’t plan to be out any later than 10:00.
Be prepared for very hazardous travel later tonight. Snow will initially melt on the roads. Then, as temps tumble, that water will freeze, leading to a layer of ice underneath the snow.
Be prepared for possible power outages, as well.
Current Radar
Current radar at about 6:30 shows snow breaking out across West TN at this hour. Snow will begin moving into the Nashville area over the next hour. That blue circled area is a special discussion from the Storm Prediction Center about heavy snowfall rates. Some of the snowfall this evening and tonight could even lead to thundersnow, even here on the plateau.

Radar Simulation
The following is a radar simulation, beginning at 6:00 pm this evening and ending at 10:00 Saturday morning.

Forecast
Widespread snow amounts of 4-6 inches are expected on the plateau. As with all snow events, some isolated locations may see an inch or so more, while other isolated locations may get a bit less. Four to six inches is the amounts that are expected to be most common.

Timing
The timing still looks good. Roads are liable to start deteriorating after about 10:00 pm.

I’ll keep watching it all! You all stay safe and warm!
