It’s hard to believe that I have to talk about snow again, but here we are! (ha)
First of all, look for a windy Friday (what’s new, right?) and a very unsettled day. Due to a LOT of cold air in the atmosphere above us tomorrow, we could even have some thunderstorms. Those thunderstorms could produce graupel, which is like a hybrid between small, soft hail and sleet. Storms will stay below severe levels. Highs on Friday will only be in the low to mid 40s. With the wind, it will feel much colder.
So, yeah, spring is on hold for now.
By either late afternoon or evening, snow will begin to mix in with the showers. Snow could come down rather heavy at times in snow showers Friday night and Saturday morning. Accumulation is looking likely on grassy surfaces, trees branches, and the like. Roads should be alright but be careful if you’re out and about, just in case. Bridges and overpasses could be icy, for sure.
To make things even weirder, some of the snow showers could contain thunder and lightning.
If it starts raining locusts just roll with it. Those aren’t showing up in the models but it could just be an oversight. lol
Again, are we seriously getting ready for more snow?! haha
If April showers bring May flowers, what do April snow showers bring? That is a darn good question… if I do say so myself. lol
So, Friday and Saturday’s weather is looking very wintry.
If you don’t like this snowy stuff in April don’t despair! We’ll be back in the 60s by Sunday and 70 by Monday!
You all take care. I’ll have a full weather update in the morning.
OH yeah, if you have a 3rd grader at Brown Elementary tell them to look for me tomorrow! I’ll be talking to those kiddos about space and weather. Should be an interesting day for that! ha
The following radar simulation runs from 1:00 Friday to 1:00 Saturday and shows possible snow accumulation. The plateau shows up well! Winter weather advisories for 1-6 inches of snow are in effect for the Smokies for Friday night and Saturday.
