The big complex of storms that was moving into western Kentucky this morning has dissipated, as expected. Now, we wait to see if any of the boundaries left behind from that system will spark off any storms this afternoon. The closer you are to the TN/KY border, the better your chances for a storm. We may not see anything down here in Cumberland County.
Nevertheless, the atmosphere is destabilizing and if any storm can get going it will likely pack a punch.
The latest update at 11:30 from the Storm Prediction Center has increased the risk for a tornado for areas north of the Kentucky border. There is a low-end risk for a tornado across northern Fentress County, too. Again, the greatest risk for a storm this afternoon and evening is for you folks closer to the Kentucky border.
I’ll keep an eye on things and update as needed!
