A weak disturbance has kicked off numerous showers and storms along the western edge of the plateau this afternoon. Those are slowly moving eastward. None of these storms are severe and they are expected to remain below severe limits, though a locally severe wind gust is possible.
The good news is that these showers and storms will create a more stable atmosphere for tonight’s storms, further reducing the risk for overnight severe weather.
Nevertheless, any storm this time of year can be strong, with heavy rainfall, cloud-to-ground lightning, and gusty winds.
