By Sunday, scattered showres and storms are expected to develop across the plateau. Rain chances increase to 80% on Monday, so hopefully we’ll all get some rain before this system moves out. Rain chances drop back down to 30% by Tuesday.

Drought conditions have improved here on the plateau and across much of Middle and East TN. West TN’s drought continues to worsen.

On This Day
1916 – A dying South Atlantic Coast storm produced torrential rains in the southern Appalachian Mountains. Altapass, North Carolina, was drenched with more than 22 inches of rain, a 24 hour rainfall record for the state. Flooding resulted in considerable damage, particularly to railroads.
1799 – The Rosetta Stone is found in the Egyptian village of Rosetta by French Captain Pierre-François Bouchard during Napoleon’s Egyptian Campaign.
