Flash Flood Warning Cumberland County

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for southwest Cumberland County, in particularly the Tansi community. Radar estimates that 2-4 inches of rain has fallen there and continues to fall. Flash flooding is likely occurring or could occur at any moment. The warning is outlined by the green box on the radar image below. The heavy rain stretches from near Crossville and then southwest. The movement of this is nearly stationary.

More showers and storms are across the region, with some producing very heavy rainfall and gusty winds. Be safe if out and about.

Remember, NEVER drive across flooded roadways, especially if the water is moving (even if slowly!). Most flash flood deaths occur in vehicles. Flash flooding can occur annywhere, even on our plateau. Too much water that falls too fast is a dangerous combo.

Meanwhile, those of us across northern Cumberland County are still trying to get some rain. By Monday night, I think we will all have seen some rain.

You all take care.
