First of all, happy Earth Day! I forgot to wish you that this morning. We sure do have a beautiful planet and we can all do our part to keep it beautiful!
Good evening, everyone! I just wanted to give you a quick update on Friday night’s and Monday Night’s storm risks.
You can watch the YouTube video below, or simply read on to see what I’ve written up.
I continue to monitor Friday night’s risk. However, that risk looks very low end. What may end up happening is that we get scattered showers and thundershowers that give us some beneficial rainfall.
On the map below, I’m showing the upper level map for Friday night. The winds diverge over us but they’re not very strong. This means that storms are certainly possible, but my confidence in getting severe weather from this is very low. This is also a scenario that gives us a rainy night, so hopefully that’s all we end up getting. Still, there are enough ingredients at play to keep an eye on this and we still have 48 hours to see any changes that may occur in the guidance. So, my level of concern for Friday night, knowing what I know right now, would be 2 out of 5, with 5 being the greatest risk of severe storms.

Friday night’s rain moves out Saturday morning and then we’ll turn our attention to our next trouble maker that will arrive Monday night. On Monday, severe storms look likely across areas to our west…Arkansas, Missouri, West TN, western Ky, and the like. Those folks may get some serious severe storms in the form of tornadoes. Then, as that system moves east later in the evening, it should gradually weaken, sparing us the worst of the severe weather.
My level of concern for Monday night, knowing what I know right now, is 3 out of 5, again with 5 being the greatest risk for severe storms. Again, enough ingredients appear to be at play to require our attention.
The map below shows the greatest risk for tornadoes Monday night. As you can see, the greatest risk is over West TN, with lower risks as you move east toward the plateau. This is five nights away, so much can change. Stay tuned.
I’ll keep a close eye on the trends and let you know if there’s anything at all that you need to know about. And, as always, you’ll get my daily forecast in the morning! I’ll see you then!
