Today is looking nice. Get outside and enjoy this beautiful weather. Just keep in mind that pollen counts are sky high!

A much stronger cold front moves in Saturday night with better rain chances. Some of us may see up to half an inch of rain with this system (hopefully those totals trend upward). That system leaves us with a nice Sunday but a very chilly Sunday night. Scattered frost is possible by Monday morning.

The Climate Prediction Center is eyeing our region for the potential for heavy rain around the 24th and 25th. Lord knows we need it!

Threat Outlook

A significant severe weather outbreak is likely today across the central U.S. The orange shaded region is the area of greatest concern.

Isn’t it odd how the plateau just got skipped? The storm we had yesterday evening ended up being the most rain we would see from this system. Unfortunately, most of us missed out on that rain.

10:30 Update

The gust front has made its way across the plateau and has now moved east. There have been a few reports of trees blown down but nothing too major. I had a gust to 40 mph.

What’s very unfortunate is that our rain just disintegrated when it hit the plateau. I was hoping that wouldn’t happen but I’ve seen gust fronts do this before. I’m not sure I’ll even get a drop of rain tonight. But, that’s why rain chances were 50/50. I just wish we could get some rain.

There are more showers west of Nashville but they’re trending in more of southeast direction, which would miss many of us on the plateau.

If we miss all the rain tonight, hopefully we’ll be luckier with Saturday night’s rain.

The good news is that we’ve had a very quiet severe weather season thus far. The bad news is that dry weather is why there haven’t been any storms. If only we could get the rain without the bad storms.

You all have a good night.

9:10 Update: Gust Front Moving Across the Plateau

The gust front can still be seen as that speckled line of dust, etc well ahead of the rain. It continues to cross the plateau at this hour. Things can go from calm to (a bit) crazy in a short time. Thankfully, the winds have weakened below severe limits, as the storms themselves weaken too. Still, we could have some stiff gusts as that moves through, followed by some rain.
