6:30 pm: Severe T-storm Warning Morgan County

Issued July 3, 2026

You folks in Morgan County are now under a severe t-storm warning until 7:15 pm cdt. This storm may be capable of producing damaging winds and large hail. In addition, torrential rainfall and continuous are lightning are occurring with this storm.

I did a 3D scan of the storm and large hail can be seen suspended in the updrafts of this storm. I would prepare for at least one inch diameter hail from this cell, along with torrential rainfall.

6:25 Friday Update: Strong Storms Continue

Issued July 3, 2026

Strong storms continue across the area, producing heavy rainfall, gusty winds, frequent lightning and even hail. I just did a 3D scan of the cel near Mayland and it shows some hail suspended aloft in its downdraft (circled below). This storm is nearly stationary and could produce hail at any moment. That hail may reach severe criteria of one inch. I’ll keep an eye on it.

Another stronger storm was located over Fairfield Glad but it has both weakened and tried to redevelop farther north inot Morgan County.

When thunder roars, go indoors.

Friday Lunchtime Update

Issued July 3, 2026

Storms developing on radar across the region.

Local matters, especially when it comes to your weather forecast! Bringing you your local weather since 2017!

Storms are developing across parts of the area and that should continue through the afternoon. The Storm Prediction Center just highlighted our area, seen below, in a discussion. They do not anticipate issuing any watches but they re-emphasized the possibility for isolated severe storms this afternoon capable of producing damaging wind gusts, hail, and frequent lightning. Localized flash flooding is also a risk. That storm chance is 50%.

If you have outdoor plans this afternoon and evening, especially at area lakes, keep an eye on that radar and have nearby shelter just in case one of these storms nears your location. Remember, when thunder roars…go indoors.
