MM’s Forecast for the Plateau

Local matters, especially when it comes to your weather forecast! Bringing you your local weather since 2017!

This forecast is tailor-made for the Cumberland Plateau by Meteorologist Mark Baldwin each day!

Today we’re enjoying a nice day before rain and storms move in tonight.

The bulk of today is looking good, with only a chance for an afternoon or evening shower or storm. The better rain chances come later this evening as a cold front approaches. That front will kick off showers and storms and a few of those storms could be strong. An isolated severe storm with a damaging wind gust can’t be ruled out. I’ll monitor that threat closely.

Showers move out by mid-morning Easter Sunday. Will they move out in time for sunrise services? Well, it will be a close call! The bulk of the rain will move east by then but leftover showers can’t be ruled out. I’ll fine tune that as we go through today.

Clearer skies and calmer winds will lead to scattered frost Sunday night. We’ll see chances for frost again Monday and Tuesday nights.

Threat Outlook

Today’s threats stretch from Texas to New England. The Cumberland Plateau is included in the marginal risk, which is the lowest of the five risk categories, and that is mainly for tonight. I’ll monitor closely.

Another nice day on the plateau!

We have partly cloudy skies to look forward to today, along with southerly breezes. It’s not a bad Good Friday at all!

The good news is that Saturday is looking good too! It’s Saturday night when the front comes through with heavy rainfall. Thankfully, severe storms are not expected.

Easter Sunday will see decreasing clouds. I can’t rule out an early morning shower but we’re going to optimistically say the front gets out of here in time for sunrise services.

Colder air brings frostly nights for Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.

Threat Outlook

Extended outlooks favor a very high risk for flooding across parts of the southern plains by April 10. We’ll see if any of that tracks our way and gives us beneficial rainfall.

Today’s threats can be found in an area from the southern plains to the Midwest. The greatest risk is along the Iowa and Missouri border.

MM’s Forecast for the Plateau

Local matters, especially when it comes to your weather forecast! Bringing you your local weather since 2017!

This forecast is tailor-made for the Cumberland Plateau by Meteorologist Mark Baldwin each day!

A nice day on the plateau!

Yesterday we had scattered showers and storms that brought some beneficial rainfall to many of us. If you missed out on that, there’s an even better chance for rain Saturday night.

Until then, we just have a chance for an isolated shower or storm through Saturday. The cold front arrives Saturday night and will act as a mechanism to really help showers and storms develop. While we can never rule out a strong storm (like what we had yesterday near Crossville), severe storms are not expected.

Right now, much of Easter Sunday is looking good! We just need to get the front out of here in time for sunrise services. At this time, it looks like clearer skies could develop by mid-morning. Hopefully, we can get that clearing here early enough for sunrise services.

Monday morning begins with scattered frost, with sunny and warm conditions by afternoon.

Threat Outlook

Today’s greatest risk for severe storms can be found across northern Illinois, though anyone in the yellow-shaded region is at risk for severe weather.
