The Artemis Crew is home! They splashed down at 7:07 pm CDT. They are awaiting transport from the capsule, but they are now back here on Earth. That was a nail biting re-entry but they are safe now. Whew…. lol

All you need to know about weather on the plateau!

Track Artemis at https://www.nasa.gov/missions/artemis-ii/arow/. The astronauts will return home Friday evening at 7:07 CDT with a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean. We’re hoping and praying for a safe return. Re-entry has plenty of dangers and we certainly want our astronauts to make it home safe!

This forecast is tailor-made for the Cumberland Plateau by Meteorologist Mark Baldwin each day!
It’ll be sunny when the Artemis crew splashes down in the Pacific this evening and it’ll be sunny here in TN, too!
Dry weather will persist through the next five days, with only a 20% chance for a shower or storm for Saturday. That is mainly for you folks closer to the Kentucky border (ie. Livingston, Jamestown, Oneida).
The most active weather of this period will occur over the southern Plains this weekend and into next week. That will not impact us. Hopefully, remnants of that big storm system will bring us some showers the end of next week, but right now that’s not looking too exciting.

Three areas of marginal risks can be seen on the map below (areas of dark green). Notice the threats in California and Nevada. That’s a bit different! ha

Plateau Sanitation Allergy & Pollen Forecast

6-10 Day Temp & Precip Outlook

The Climate Prediction Center continues to monitor a potential heavy rain threat that could bring much-needed rainfall to our area after the middle of the month….hopefully.

Interestingly, they’re also monitoring the threat for hot temps around the 17-18th of the month.

We could use some rain, as the drought monitor update today shows. All of the plateau is now in drought. Hopefully we’ll get some rain next week.
The most active weather of this period will occur over the southern Plains this weekend and into next week. That will not impact us.

There is a risk for severe storms again today focused on Kansas.

A total solar eclipse, as seen from the far side of the Moon, by Artemis II. “It’s just, it’s indescribable. No matter how long we look at this, our brains are not processing this image in front of us. It is absolutely spectacular, surreal. There’s no adjectives. I’m going to need to invent some new ones to describe what we are looking at out this window,” Astronaut Wiseman.

Sunny & dry days continue.
And continue, and continue. lol It’s a good week to get any yardwork done or to even get the ground ready for your spring garden. Rain will return….just not this week.
The most active weather of this period will occur over the southern Plains this weekend, where significant severe weather is likely to occur. At this time, that does not look like it will impact us.

There is a low-end risk for severe storms today across portions of Kansas.
