We’ll be weather-aware this evening as a line of strong to severe storms approaches. Severe t-storm watches have now been issued for Kentucky. Those will likely be exanded southward this evening to include the plateau.
A severe t-storm watch has been issued for Kentucky until 9:00 pm this evening. A line of strong to severe t-storms is currently developing across northern Kentucky and southern Indiana. That line will continue to grow this afternoon as it moves south toward the plateau. The forecast remains on track, with the plateau being approached by this line by 6:00 and threatening much of the area between 6:00 and midnight. We’ll need to be weather aware during that timeframe and I’ll give the all-clear once the threat has passed.
That line of rapidly developing t-storms can be seen on the radar image below from WeatherTAP. They have quickly blossomed in this afternoon heat and humidity and they will likely still be packing a punch as they move south toward the plateau this evening.
