MM’s Special Wed Night Storm Update

Special update issued August 19 at 10:00pm

I’ll be monitoring storms through the night.

A severe t-storm watch was just issued well to our west on the Arkansas/Missouri border until 3:00 a.m. It’s those storms that I’ll be tracking east. They should weaken as they approach the plateau, but I’ll watch them just in case they don’t.

Out of abundance of caution, I added the very low-end risk for a brief spin-up tornado. The main threat is a damaging wind gust and possible flash flooding.

I’ve updated the hourly forecast for tonight, as seen below.

And I’ll be using my concern meter again! This is where I am right now. We’ll see if this changes overnight.

As always, I’ll keep a very close eye on things. Overall, this is a low-end threat but it’s not zero. Just keep it right here to Meteorologist Mark! Thank you!

Other important weather information will be shared when needed. This includes additional severe weather information, model data, drought info, hurricane info, and more. Some of these can be found as tabs to this page at any time.

8:30 Special Update: Watching STorms Develop

Special update issued August 19

A severe storm threat remains for much of Middle TN for later tonight.

The storms that I’ll be tracking overnight are just now starting to develop in northern Arkansas. It is still unclear as to just how strong those storms will get. That’s something I’ll be watching closely. Just make sure your weather radio is turned on and that you can get an app notification, just in case a warning is issued laer tonight.

Overall, I’m not overly concerned. Storms should be weakening when they approach us later on. I estimate their time of arrival in the 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. timeframe. Straight-line winds will be the main threat.

I’ll issue another update at 10:00 with the latest info. I’m going to watch these storms develop and monitor some other data coming in. I’ll have a better update at 10:00. You all take care!

Other important weather information will be shared when needed. This includes additional severe weather information, model data, drought info, hurricane info, and more. Some of these can be found as tabs to this page at any time.
