MM’s Tues 5-Day: You Guessed It…More Shrs & Storms

I’m so excited to be heading west today with my National Science Foundation grant crew at TTU! Wheels up! lol As part of this grant, we partner with Indigenous folks and this trip will take us to the eastern band of the Cherokee in Oklahoma. I’m excited to meet with some of those folks and visit several museums where we can immerse in that culture.

Extreme heat continues across the Southwest as temperatures may top 120 degrees. The heat may expand across the West and south-central U.S. into the middle of the month. Severe thunderstorms capable of severe wind gusts and large hail will be the primary hazards today across the northern Plains into the upper Midwest. Rainfall could be locally heavy across the Eastern U.S. today.

Our cold front from Saturday continues to slowly push eastward. If this were a wintertime cold front, it would be well out to sea by now! ha Summer fronts are slow and lazy, so they take their time. Still, we’re close enough to it to see soe showers and maybe even a storm today.

Don’t be fooled by the better weather to our west. The front will become stationary and start drifting back to the north tomorrow, bringing a continued risk of showers and storms each day this week.
