Thank You, Sponsors!

Help me welcome my newest sponsor, Risher Roofing! I first met them when they did work for us at Creative Compassion. They helped us put a roof on the home of a widow and their compassion, professionalism, and workmanship was so impressive. I’m so honored to have them as a sponsor!

10:30 Update: Rest of Tonight

Special update issued August 20

For the rest of tonight, a chance for storms remains. I’m not too concerned about severe weather but I’m leaving my weather radio on, just in case. If there’s anything you need to know about, I’ll jump online.

Shr and storm have been gradually weakening this evening. However, another disturbance will swing through later on and it may kick off a few more storms. Lapse rates are steep (temps decrease rapidly with height), and that makes for storms that produce tons of lightning (ice in the top of the cloud is a different charge from the water at the bottom of the cloud, helping create abundant lightning).

Like I said, IF something comes up that you need to know about…I’ll be right here (and FB. ha).

9:50 Update

Special update issued August 20

9:50 Update: This storm continues to slowly weaken as it moves east, southeast toward northern Morgan County.

9:25 Update: Our strong storm continues to move across Fentress County. It has weakened a bit but that could change. It remains unwarned but that can also change. It’s a small storm but strong.

A strong storm is moving southeast in Overton County. It’s located just north of Livingston at 8:42 pm. This storm contains frequent lightning and very heavy rainfall, along with very gusty winds. It could go severe as it moves toward you all in southern Fentrss Country (Grimsley, Clarkrange areas). This storm is moving southeast at 25 mph.

Other important weather information will be shared when needed. This includes additional severe weather information, model data, drought info, hurricane info, and more. Some of these can be found as tabs to this page at any time.

7:15 pm Thurs Evening Special Update

Special update issued August 20

Storms may develop across the area as we go through the next several hours. I’ll keep an eye on them and issue special updates, if needed.

For now, there are storms in the Spring City area that are severe. Those are moving east toward Sweetwater. Other storms may develop as we go through the evening and any of those could be severe. We have a disturbance moving in from the west and plenty of warm and humid air for it to play with! We’ll just watch the radar and see how the situation evolves in the coming hours.

My concern for this evening. We’ll see if this changes in the coming hours.
