This forecast is tailor-made for the Cumberland Plateau by Meteorologist Mark Baldwin each day!

Some of us saw some heavy rain last night. I picked up over an inch of rain in my gauge! Today’s rain chances look to be lower, with only 30% chances for a shower or storm.

Friday’s forecast has trended drier, as that system has slowed down a bit. Friday night and Saturday now look wetter. Depending on how that system clears the area, Sunday and Monday’s forecast could trend drier or wetter. Stay tuned.

Rain chances are on the decline but they’re not over yet. We’ll see a 50/50 shot today and tomorrow, before another system comes through and increases rain chances again on Friday.

The weekend forecast depends on how well the Friday system moves through the area. Rain chances, therefore, could increase or decrease for the weekend as more data on that comes in.

MM’s Forecast for the Plateau

This forecast is tailor-made for the Cumberland Plateau by Meteorologist Mark Baldwin each day!

This stagnated pattern consisting of mostly cloudy skies and scattered showers continues for the next couple of days. The scattered nature of these showers and t-storms makes outdoor planning a headache but we hope to get as many of these showers as we can.

By Thursday, the forecast trends drier and some guidance is suggesting 20-30% rain chances on Friday and Saturday. I’ll track that and make adjustments if those trends continue.

There is a marginal risk for severe storms across Kentucky, just to the north of the plateau. There is a low-end tornado risk for that area. I’ll keep an eye on that and make sure none of this slip down toward you folks from Livingston to Jamestown to Oneida.

Our risk for scattered showers and storms continues through next week. If you have outdoor plans, have a solid indoor back-up plan! Maybe you catch a break between showers, but be able to move indoors quickly in case another shower or storm moves in.

Also, remember that if you can hear it thunder you’re close enough to be struck by lightning. Move indoors if you hear thunder’s roar.
