2:15 Sunday Afternoon Update

Issued July 5, 2026

We had some strong storms in the area earlier, with even a few warnings issued around Knoxville and down around Chattanooga. Thankfully, we didn’t have any warnings issued here on the plateau. The good news is that thunderstorms have shown a weakening trend over the past hour. However, there are still large areas of rain that are overspreading the plateau. Perfect napping weather, right? ha

If you have outdoor plans just keep an eye on the radar. We still have to be mindful of lightning, even if the severe storms risk has diminished. I don’t anticipate any warnings the rest of today.

The current radar shows weakening thunderstorms but widespread areas of light to moderate rain.

7:30 Update

Issued July 3, 2026

The severe storm in Fentress County has dropped below severe limits. It could restrengthen as it moves toward Alvin C York and Pall Mall, so be aware of that.

If you know anyone camping at Dale Hollow Lake, please make sure they know a rough storm is moving their way. They may need to seek shelter and the storm has had a history of blowing down trees.
