MM’s Wx Summary
I’ll have this updated in the morning, as well. Right now I’m most concerned with severe storms in the afternoon hours. If you have outdoor plans, just be prepared in case a storm blows up. Some of you may not see anything in the afternoon, while others may see a potent storm.

Confidence is looking good for the five day forecast. The only question I have right now concerns storm coverage and intensity for Saturday afternoon and evening.

MM’s Wx Analysis

My threat levels remain unchanged from this morning’s update. I’ll have a fresh update on this in the morning. I feel confident that these threat levels will change very little, if any.

I’ll be using my concern meter for the first time tomorrow! You’ll be able to see if I’m feeling better, worse, or staying the same through the day.

Saturday’s weather map is a busy one! Heavy rain and severe storms affect an area from the Gulf Coast to Chicago.

The jet stream has stayed consistent in the model data for the past several model runs. Strong winds aloft and warm, humid air here at the surface could lead to severe storms Saturday afternoon.

I did a modeled weather balloon launch for the plateau for Saturday afternoon and the most concerning thing to me is the bit of wind shear that we’ll have. That could be just enough for an isolated spin-up tornado.

MM News
I was SUPER excited to learn today that I have been approved for a NASA press pass to cover the launch of the Nancy Grace Roman Telescope set for August 24!!! This telescope may be the one to discover other life in the univers, whether it be microscopic…or else! I am so excited to be going to this and I can’t wait to share it all with you!

I also found out that I get to cover the launch of Crew 13 in mid-September!!! This will be my first crewed launch to ever see and I am beyond excited to have this opportunity! Stay tuned for MUCH, MUCH more to come!

I made a YouTube video with more info about my exciting opportunity!
I have a new episode of Weather and War out this week about Lookout Mountain, TN, during the Civil War!
