MM’s Forecast for the Plateau

This forecast is tailor-made for the Cumberland Plateau by Meteorologist Mark Baldwin each day!

A beautiful Mother’s Day with only the slightest shower chance this evening, followed by better rain chances after midnight.

I wish I could say we would get a lot of rain from this system, but I’m afraid 1/4″ might be as good as it gets. We’ll hope for more.

Our next chance for a shower comes Wednesday but that’s nothing to get too excited about either.

The good news is that there doesn’t appear to be any threat for severe storms over the next five days.

MM’s Forecast for the Plateau

This forecast is tailor-made for the Cumberland Plateau by Meteorologist Mark Baldwin each day!

A nice weekend for the plateau.

Even the rain that was forecast for Mother’s Day Sunday has slowed down enough to where it looks like we won’t have to look out for rain until after dark Sunday. Even then, precip amounts look like.

Our next chance for a shower comes Wednesday but that’s nothing to get too excited about either.

The good news is that there doesn’t appear to be any threat for severe storms over the next five days.

MM’s Fri 5-Day: Loving Sunny Days, Hoping for Rain

A beautiful Friday on the plateau. Enjoy!

We need the rain but we’ll enjoy the sunny and cooler weather. We all know summer’s heat is just around the corner. There are indications that this summer may be hotter and drier than normal….

Speaking of dry. Seven day rainfall totals on the plateau will likely stay below one half inch. That’s not good for our severe drought. Spring rainfall opportunities are running out and we need to get rain in the gauge sooner than later.

Our next chance for an isolated shower comes Saturday. A better chance for rain comes Sunday but guidance has trended down with that precip.

Then, we see a beautiful start to the workweek. We might need to be mindful of scattered frost Monday night. I’ll keep an eye on that.

Patchy Frost Possible Overnight

Good evening, everyone! This is just a reminder that patchy frost is possible in the morning. Frost advisories have been issued for southeast Kentucky and special weather statements for frost have been issued for Morgan and Scott counties. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see patchy frost across much of the plateau by morning. If you have something that is especially sensitive to frost, it’s probably a good idea to protect it if you haven’t already.

The areas most susceptible to frost are those that are out in the open and not protected by tree cover, etc.
