8:00 Weather Update: Good News for Most

Today is Saturday August 22, 2026

8:06 Update: The severe t-storm watch was just cancelled early.

The only warning now is for Bledsoe County and that storms is finally showing some weakening. Still, you folks are under a severe t-storm warning until 8:15 CDT. After that storm, we’ll be done.

There are no other active warnings and no other areas of concern. Our evening has finally taken a turn for the better!

I expect the severe t-storm watch to be cancelled at any moment.

The only warning remaining is in Bledsoe County and it is gradually weakening. This warning expires at 8:15 CDT

Things have really calmed down for those of us on the plateau! The only storm of interest is now moving south through Bledsoe County. It has been on a weakening trend now for several minutes. My only remaining concern is those of you in the path of this strong storm in Bledsoe County.

Severe T-Storm Warning Continues for Cumberland County & Updates

Today is Saturday August 22, 2026

7:42 Update; Severe storm warning extended into Bledsoe County. The storm is showing some rotation, so be aware of that. This matters for you all in southwest Cumberland County for the next 15 mins or so.

7:35 Update: Report of multiple large white oaks down at Genesis and Roy Taylor Rd. Time of that damage is estimated at 6:32 (this occurred with an earlier storm).

7:23 Update: The worst of this storm will stay west of Crossville. The largest hail is closer to the Cumbeland/White County border.

7:20 Update: Large hail confirmed in Mayland via video. It appeared to be golfball sized. Radar certainly supports this.

The only storm of concern now is the one in western Cumberland County. That storm continues to be severe. I’ve circled the areas that need to be concerned with this storm. This is the only storm of concern right now. It is moving south and southeast. The warning expires at 7:45 pm.

Severe T-Storm Warning Updates

Today is Saturday August 22, 2026

7:04 Update: The worst of this storm is between I-40 and Sparta Highway near Pleasant Hill. Large hail is being indicated by radar. The storm is moving southeast toward Crossville. It should arrive in Crossville by 7:30.

7:00 pm Update: The only severe storm of concern is now south of Monterey and moving toward Pleasant Hill. The other storms have weakened below severe limits.

The NWs has now issued a severe t-storm waring for Cumberland, Putnam, Overton, and southwest Fentress Counties until 7:45 pm. This storm could produce large hail and damaging winds.

Overall, storms have been weakening but this one in soutehrn Overton is still one to watch out for.

New Severe T-Storm Warnings Putnam and Overton & Updates

Today is Saturday August 22, 2026

6:50 Update: Radar showing at least 1″ diameter hail in Monterey right now.

6:46 Update: The Storm Prediction Center does not plan to issue additional watches. Storms are showing weakening trends and they don’t feel the need to issue new watches east or south of the current watch. The current watch expires at 9:00 pm unless it’s cancelled sooner.

6:41 Update: The two storms in Cumberland County continue to slowly weaken. They are still severe storm warned, so we’ll still take them very seriously. A new warning in Overton County may move into Cumberland County by 7:00 pm.

The NWS has now issued a new severe t-storm warning for Overton and Putnam counties until 7:00 pm

The NWS has issued a severe t-storm warning for Morgan County until 6:45 pm CDT.

The NWS has issued a severe t-storm warning for Cumberland County until 7:00 pm.

Large hail and damaging winds are possible with these storms. Very frequent lightning is also occurring. Golfball sized hail was reported south of Livingston.
