Winds Picking Up

A dry cold front is moving across Middle TN and winds are starting to pick up across the region. Nashville has had some gusts to 25 mph from the northwest. Make sure the outdoor fur babies are in out of the cold and wind. It’s one thing to be in the 20s overnight, but that wind will add a whole different level of chill! The first cold blast of air of the season seems to always be a shock.

Winds should be subsiding by sunrise.

Past Halloween Weather

The weather of Halloween can be interesting! The change of seasons often brings a variety of weather to the plateau and, with Halloween falling on the cusp of fall’s transition into winter, it can mean anything can happen on Halloween!

Records for this date begin with 1954, which just so happened to be a very cold Halloween! We even recorded a bit of snow. Still, other Halloweens have been quite warm, with 1984 having the warmest high temperature of 80 degrees. The wettest Halloween appears to 1961, when 1.34 inches of rain fell at the airport.

As with any data, there appears to be at least one fluke. If you notice the years 1964-1966 having identical highs and lows. It’s very unlikely that data is correct. It is interesting how so many years have such similar data.
