Forecast Summary

After a few morning showers this morning, we’ll see conditions improve as we go later into the day. It will be a breezy day, with west winds gusting to 20 mph at times.

The rest of the week is looking great, with low humidity and pleasant temps. We may even flirt with the upper 40s some nights this week! The only catch is that winds will be breezy again Tuesday and Wednesday, with more gusts to 20 mph possible.

On This Day

1973- Crossville measures 6.29″ of rainfall — its greatest one-day rainfall ever.

1896 – A massive tornado struck Saint Louis, Missouri, killing 306 persons and causing thirteen million dollars damage. The tornado path was short but cut across a densely populated area. It touched down six miles west of Eads Bridge in Saint Louis and widened to a mile as it crossed into East Saint Louis. The tornado was the most destructive of record in the U.S. up until that time. It pierced a five-eighths inch thick iron sheet with a two by four-inch pine plank. A brilliant display of lightning accompanied the storm.

Allergy Forecast

Top Allergens: Grasses, Walnut, and Mulberry.

Hay Weather Forecast

Higher humidity makes today a fair hay day, not to mention very wet fields! Warm afternoons with low humidity will make for fine hay weather the rest of the week! Breezy conditions today through Wednesday will really help dry things out!

2:35 Update: All Clears

Folks, we got lucky with this one and I can’t tell you how happy I am to be able to type that. I can now give the ALL CLEAR for all of Cumberland and Fentress County. Tornado watches are being canceled early.

Let’s please remember the lives that have been lost and impacted by this spring storm system as it crossed the country. At last count, as least 18 deaths have been reported with storms with this system from last night and today. At least one of those was in Kentucky. Scores more are injured to various degrees. Search and rescue operations continue in several western Kentucky towns and the number of deaths and injuries may rise.

Even now, severe storms are threatening folks to our south and east. Let’s hope and pray they stay safe.

As always, I THANK YOU for trusting me with your weather. I appreciate it more than you know!

2:00 a.m. Update

The severe weather continues to focus toward southern Middle TN and then over in East Tn north of Knoxville. Here in the middle, we’re faring pretty well!

I can give the all clear for those of you who live north of Crossville. This includes Rinnie, Isoline, Clear Creek, Woody, and Mayland. You folks in Fairfield are in the clear, as well.

You folks in the southern half of Cumberland should remain weather-aware a bit longer. This goes for all of you along and south of I-40. I should note that nothing looks too threatening at this time.
