Our current radar shows some showers and storms across the plateau. Right now, Rinnie and Clarkrange look to be the big bread winners for rain, but storms can pop up anywhere in this atmosphere.
The high today reached 80 degrees here in town. After these showers and storms move through, the rest of the evening should be quieter. Still, with such a warm and unstable environment hanging around, we can’t rule out an isolated shower or storm anytime from now to Friday.
The model updates this afternoon continue to show a tropical wave developing in the Gulf and heading this way the middle of next week. Much could change with that but it’s interesting that they’re staying so consistent. Models also continue to indicate an even stronger tropical system (hurricane?) impacting the Gulf two weeks from now. It is far too early to be seeing things like this in the models, but some hurricane seasons get off to early starts. Plus, these models will change between now and then, so just stay tuned.
If you or someone you know has travel plans to the Gulf within the next two weeks they’ll need to stay tuned to the weather forecast. Wow, we really did go straight into summer, didn’t we?
You all have a great afternoon and evening.
