The Storm Prediction Center has lowered our chances of stronger storms this afternoon. As I said in this morning’s blog, short-term models were showing us getting a break in the afternoon and that has certainly come to pass.
Very strong storms are expected to develop this evening up in Illinois and Indiana but I just looked at the upper-level winds and they should keep those storms to our north.
As you can see from the current radar, there is plenty of moisture gathering to our south. That will move east and northwest over the next several days. Models are now showing some t-storm activity around again in the morning, much like what we had this morning. Unlike today, though, that activity may be scattered about the plateau throughout the day. Showers and storms continue to look likely Friday into Saturday.
