Moisture associated with tomorrow’s system is still looking very light. Still, some of us could squeeze out a dusting to half an inch. Those of you across the northern half of Fentress County may see some spots with half an inch to near one inch. The best chance for snow will hold off until after noon, though we could see a few flurries in the morning hours with the passage of a cold front. That front means the warmest temps of the day will be in the morning. Bundle up tomorrow!
By afternoon, an upper-level disturbance will swing through and that should kick off scattered snow showers.
Any snow that falls could cause slick spots on area roadways. As we know, it doesn’t take much snow to cause travel troubles.
My thoughts remain unchanged for snow amounts. My confidence has increased for light snow to fall. I should add that the best chance for snow will be along the western edge of the plateau and northern Fentress County.
And with snow amounts being so light, as well as coming later in the day, the chances for a snow day appear very low.
On the other hand, I think the chance for an early release is a bit higher.
I should also note that these types of events produce significant snowfall in the Smokies. If you have plans to head that way this weekend, be aware that plans may be impacted by winter storm conditions there.
