Tuesday Afternoon Wx Update

I just wanted to jump on here a minute and let you all know of some very strong storms and flooding rainfall occurring just to the southeast of Cumberland County. If you’re headed toward Harriman, Spring City, or Dayton this afternoon be sure and pay attention to the weather. Severe t-storm warnings are active until 3:45 cdt and flash flood advisories are in place. Those flood advisories may get upgraded to flash flood warnings and those storms will likley be ongoing long past the warning expiration.

Those storms are nearly stationary, so they’re not moving in any particular direction.

Thus far this afternoon, the plateau has dodged many of the showers and storms. That could change at any moment. Storms are boiling up all across the state and our atmosphere could “pop” at any time. The main threat with any storm today is torrential rainfall. Gusty winds and frequent lightning will also be threats.

The current radar shows plenty of activity nearby. All storms are nearly stationary.
