Well, that’s a headline I never expected to type, but such are the times.
If you get this in time, I should note that the International Space Station is flying over at 5:43. It rises in the NW and sets in the SE. It will rise to 42 degrees up and be visible for six minutues. Bundle up if you head out.
I’ve had some of you ask about it, so I figured I’d do a post. Plus, I just saw some news outlets talking about this passing over Tennessee tonight.
The now-famous Chinese surveilance balloon is being steered by strong upper-level winds (ie. jet stream). If wind alone steers the Chinese surveillance balloon it will be coming over Tennessee tonight. In fact, it will be coming over parts of the northern plateau.
The image below is a model of that track. It begins at the NWS In Kansas City, who saw it fly over today. They confirmed that is not a weather balloon. If it is lowered or raised to a different altitude, the track would change significantly. The red triangle on the Missouri/Illinois border is the position at 6:00 pm this evening, while the triangle on the Tennessee/ North Carolina border is the midnight position. Interestingly close to us, for sure, if it stays on track and if it’s not altered by being maneuvered. Some have already said it’s headed to Oak Ridge, but this is literally the track upper level winds are steering it.

What if it sprayed a bioweapon upon us?
I think that’s a legit concern, Steve. I hope that’s not what all this is leading up to.
This is certainly concerning
