The Storm Prediction Center just issued a special update for our area (they circled the area in a red outline on the radar below). They state that the atmosphere continues to stabilize due to so much rain ahead of the front now. That rain is stabilizing the atmosphere. You can see the front on the radar below showing up as that broken line of “reds” from Cookeville to near McMinnville. You may notice the severe t-storm warning near McMinnville and Spencer. That could affect the southernmost areas of Cumberland County over the next hour or so. However, more rain ahead of that storm, along with previous rains this evening, will likely keep that storm from getting too severe.
The SPC notes that an eastward extension of the current watch is not expected, so you folks east of the plateau are looking good, though you too could see some very heavy rainfall.
The tornado watch will be allowed to expire at 7:00, though the threat is likely over for you all in Fentress County.
I’ll give the all clear when the threat has completly ended. Be safe out on area roads. They are very wet!
