For the threat of severe storms and heavy rainfall.
I’ll be monitoring the weather through the evening.
Summary
March is coming in like a lion….
We set a record high of 73 degrees today. This warmth will combine with a potent storm system to bring the risk for strong to severe storms tonight, as well as the risk for very heavy rainfall. At this time, severe weather is not expected for Thursday. That threat returns, however, on Friday.
Vlog
MM Concerns

MM’s Hourly Weather
This begins at 8:00 p.m. tonight and ends at 8:00 a.m. in the morning.

Current Alerts
Tornado watches are in yellow and flash flood watches are in dark green. All watches are currently to our west at 7:30 pm. The red-shaded counties are tornado warning in northeast Mississippi. Those are moving east and will stay south of our area. (Map image from 7:50 p.m.)

Current Radar
Radar at 8:00 pm. Showers and storms are developing across Middle TN.

Model Radar
This model run begins at 8:00 pm tonight and ends at 8:00 a.m. in the morning in one-hour increments.

Storm Prediction Center Outlook
The Storm Prediction Center currently has the plateau in the marginal risk, though the slight risk is just to our southwest.

Friday
While severe storms are certainly a threat Friday, the strong southerly winds that could gust to over 50 mph could be quite problematic. Expect power outages. Shallow rooted trees in our saturated soils will be vulnerable to the winds.
