Smoky Skies

Thanks to an unseasonably warm and dry spring, Canadian wildfires have burned more than 10 million acres of forest there. That creates a lot of smoke! Northerly winds are bringing in that smoke into our skies again today.

Thankfully, much of this particulate matter will continue to stay suspended up in the atmosphere. The NWS monitors air quality and will issue air quality alerts if the air threatens the air we breathe here at the surface. No such alerts are in place today for the plateau, owing to the nature of the smoke being up in the sky (as it has been all along in our neck of the woods).

The hazy sky sure has made for pretty sunsets and sunrises! That sun sets today at about 7:56 this evening and is sure to be beautiful!
