Santa’s Forecast & The Week Ahead
Rain should hold off until after midnight tonight on the plateau, so if Santa wants to beat the rain he’d better be flyin’ in and out of here by midnight! (This is your cue to get those kids to bed early! ha).
Christmas will be rainy and windy, with some wind gusts hitting 35 mph. Rain finally tapers off Tuesday evening. Total rainfall amounts will likely stay in the 1/2 to 3/4 inch range, though some of you may hit the one inch mark.
Wednesday is looking nice, before our next interesting weather maker arrives Wednesday night into Thursday morning. That system has the potential to bring light snow and snow accumulation to the plateau. It is something I’ll be watching very closely. Stay tuned!

On This Day Last Year
The high on Christmas Eve last year was only 16 degrees, after a morning low of -2. The high Christmas Day was 23 degrees, after a morning low of 5 degrees.
Upper Level Low
The upper level low is forecast by models to be positioned right on top of us on Thursday, which would offer high chances for snow for us. If, however, this low deviates from this path it will have rather large impacts on the forecast. Stay tuned for updates as more data comes in on Monday. I’ll keep you posted! (Snow lovers,…let’s hold off on getting too excited until I look at Monday evening’s data. ha).
