Low Rain Chances for Next Two Days

A Beautiful Mother’s Day

Unsettled Weather Returns for Next Week

Forecast Summary

Another slight chance for showers comes with a disturbance on Friday. Another disturbance brings a bit better chance for showers on Saturday, although that chance is still low. Both look to produce scattered, light activity and are not expected to aggravate current flooding.

Mother’s Day looks beautiful, before another chance for a shower arrives Monday afternoon. Right now, Tuesday is looking wet and rain chances may need to be increased as we get closer to that time.

Yesterday’s Statistics

Notice the monthly precip total….. We need another hundredth of an inch to get off that number! (ha)

Yesterday’s Rainfall

On This Day

1933- An F-4 tornado moves for 20 miles from near Livingston to near Byrdstown. Thirty-three of the 35 deaths are in Beatty Swamps, six miles north of Livingston. The half-mile wide funnel destroys every home in the community, and kills or injures virtually every resident. Much of the area is swept clean of debris. Damage totals $100,000. There are 150 injuries. (According to the family of Ewing Hull, the air after suppertime was very quiet, although stifling for May. The Hull cabin was blown away that night, and the family woke up on the ground.) This is the deadliest tornado ever to strike Middle Tennessee.

Today’s Snow Cover

Area Covered by Snow in the US: 6% (down 1% from yesterday)

Drought Monitor

The Drought Monitor is updated each Thursday. The map below was updated on Thursday, May 9.

I think it’s safe to say that all drought and dry conditions will be erased in TN in next week’s update! This map is based on data up to Tuesday and does not include our rain from yesterday and last night.

Approximately 18,278,168 people are in drought conditions across the country. Last week that number was 19,086,266.

Have a great day and keep lookin’ up!
