Northern Lights….Again?!

It’s true! We might just get to see the northern lights again tonight! Just as I said last night, keep in mind that these events can overperform or underperform. Last night we can definitely say they overperformed!

Last night the timing seemed uncertain. Various sources, even within NASA, were giving different viewing times. As it turns out, they were visible a couple of hours earlier than expected. Tonight, they’re all saying to start looking after sunset and throughout the night. The behavior of the various bursts of energy can be hard to forecast.

We also have the International Space Station coming over again! It will rise in the southwest at 8:20 and set in the northeast seven minutes later.

This evening won’t be as chilly as last evening, with temps falling into the 50s after sunset and not falling into the 40s until after midnigtht. Still, some of you may want a light jacket if you stay out for very long, especially if this breeze continues.

I plan on looking for the northern lights right after sunset. Sunset occurs at about 7:40.
