8:30 Update: Light Snow Continues All Night

Issued Friday, January 30, 2026, at 8:30 pm

In effect today and tomorrow

Snow Continues

Light snow continues across the plateau this evening and will continue overnight and into Saturday. I just measured 1/2 – 3/4″ of snow here in Rinnie (10 mi north of Crossville), and I wouldn’t be surprised to see me add at least another inch to that before it wraps up later tomorrow. My forecast remains on track.

At the same time snowflakes fall, temps fall too. Arctic air continues to move in and it’s going to take a while for it to lose its grip. We won’t rise above freezing again until Monday afternoon.

That arctic air will come with increasing winds. Look for those winds to really start picking up between now and midnight. By tomorrow, we could have gusts to 30 mph, with high temps in the low to mid teens. That will lead to “feels like” temps around zero (if not below zero).

Again, snow will continue overnight, coming down in decent bursts at times. Be careful if you must be out and about. Snow will likely taper off to more scattered snow showers or even flurries as we go through the day Saturday, but periods of snow will likely continue through the day Saturday.

At this hour, radar shows lots of snow showers across Middle TN. Some of the flakes are below the radar beam, so not all of them are showing up.

You all stay warm and safe! Unless another update is needed, I’ll see you all in the morning for the daily forecast update! Let it snow!!! ha

Looking at the latest guidance, I’ve decided to change the orientation of the circle that I’ve previously drawn to show the areas with the best chance of getting closer to the 2″ mark. Those of you in eastern Cumberland County may now find yourselves in one of those more favored areas. I continue to believe we all have a good chance for measuring 1-2 inches, but that circled area may have more areas hitting that 2″ mark.
