The line of storms is moving through without causing troubles and we can be thankful for that. As the line moves in, you’ll likely feel a very cool rush of wind ahead of it. That cool rush of wind is the cool outflow of air ahead of the line. That cool air has been a big hindrance to the storms becoming severe. This cool outflow is a result (in part) of a lack of directional shear (change with wind direction with height). We can be thankful for that! Shear is so important for severe storms to thrive and without it, well, storms just can’t become as severe as they would otherwise be. It’s not just about being unusually warm and humid for this time of year…there’s MUCH more to the equation that needs to come together to get bad storms.

I’ll continue to watch this closely, but I don’t expect to have to issue any additional updates. Be safe on the wet roads if you’re out and about this evening.

The line is crossing the plateau, wiht little in the way of reds showing up. That’s great news! I’m also liking all the beneficial rainfall to come this evening.
