Local 5-Day Forecast for the Plateau

Local matters, especially when it comes to your weather forecast! Bringing you your local weather since 2017!

This forecast is tailor-made for the Cumberland Plateau by Meteorologist Mark Baldwin each day!

A “keep the umbrella handy” kinda day.

A risk for some showers and perhaps a thundershower will be us throughout the day. It’s definitely not a washout of a day, but one where you might keep an umbrella handy, just in case.

By Wednesday, things become quite unsettled as a powerful storm system gathers strength to our west. That system will likely send showers and thundershowers into our region Wednesday morning, followed by a break in the afternoon and early evening. If a storm forms in the afternoon during the break, they could become severe and bring a risk for all modes of severe weather, including tornadoes. Right now, the risk for those isolated storms looks low, but not zero. That isolated storm threat will carry on into the early evening. Then, we should see an uptick with shrs and storms as the front gets closer and then passes through. Those storms could be severe, with damaging winds being the main threat.

Showers come to an end Thursday morning and they may even contain a snowflake! We should see sunnier skies by afternoon. Those clear skies will allow temps to drop Thursday night. By Friday morning will be a bit frosty on the plateau.

Saturday looks really nice before another system moves in Sunday with more rain chances. That system will be followed by even colder air. Morning lows early next week will likely be in the 20s.

Threat Outlook

We’ll be very mindful of any storm that may form ahead of the front Wednesday afternoon and evening. Then, we’ll be mindful of the storms associated with the cold front later into the evening. I’ll have more on these threats in tonight’s special udpate.

Another storm system may bring severe storms to the area on Wednesday. That system will be followed by colder air, which will include frosty mornings. The Storm Prediction Center has placed our area in the slight risk for severe storms for Wednesday.
