Special Tuesday Night Update: Watching those Wednesday Storms

Issued Tuesday Evening, March 10, 2026

Severe Storms Threaten the Area Wednesday

A strong March cold front will move through the area Wednesday evening, bringing showers and storms. Some of those storms could be severe, with damaging winds being the main threat.

While the main culprit for severe weather will be a line of storms coming Wednesday evening, we can’t rule out an isolated severe storm in the afternoon and early evening. The risk for that is low, but any storm that does develop would carry the risk of all modes of severe weather, including a tornado.

Then, a severe weather threat arrives with the line that will be moving across the plateau after sunset. If this is a solid line, then a damaging wind gust would be the main threat. If this line is more broken, it may carry a risk for both damaging straight-line winds and tornadoes. Sometimes those broken lines can be more trouble than the solid lines of storms.

Again, the overall risk on Wednesday is low but it’s certainly not zero. And I’ll certainly be keeping an eye on everything and keeping you posted with any info you need to know.

Just think about where you’re going to be tomorrow afternoon and evening and think about where you would go if a severe storm threatens. Having that plan figured out now can be very helpful if you end up with a warning tomorrow.

I have my severe weather safety tips at https://meteorologistmark.com/severe-weather-safety/

If we get through tomorrow alright, it doesn’t look like we have any more severe weather threats for at least 10 days. Although, we may have snow showers to contend with on Monday. Yeah, welcome to March.

I’ll have a full forecast update in the morning, so please check back and see if there are any changes. You all take care.
