Much of the eastern US is quiet, thanks to high pressure. Some unsettled weather can be seen up the central US, with the most active (and dangerous!) weather being found on the Minnesota/Wisconsin border where a severe storm threat exist today. The Pacific Northwest is seeing valley showers and mountain snow showers. Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Vance will continue to weaken as it moves toward the Mexican coastline for a landfall late Thursday night.

The percentage of the land area of the contiguous U.S. covered in snow is at 4%. Yesterday it was 5%.
