Showers are developing on radar this evening across Middle TN and moving east. All guidance pointed to rain developing by now, however, the air here at the surface is very dry and a bit drier than was expected. Therefore, it will take a while longer before precip will be able to reach the ground. Some folks may make it until midnight before seeing any precip, while other areas may see some at any time. Earlier today it looked like the atmosphere would have moistened up by now, but it is moistening up more slowly than expected.
Meanwhile, the chance for mixed precip has increased for tonight, especially from about 10:00 p.m. to daybreak Sunday. After daybreak, enough warm air will have moved in to change all precip to plain rain.
That’s the latest update for now. There are currently no advisories in place for the plateau, but that could still change later this evening. I’ll let you know if anything is issued.
