Summary
We’ll see mostly cloudy skies today and a chance for a shower or two. The bulk of the rain from last night has pushed east.
Tonight, skies will remain cloudy, with a continued chance for a shower. That rain picks up in coverage and intensity on Saturday.
We may get a break on Sunday, with just mostly cloudy skies. I hope I don’t have to add a shower in later outlooks, but right now widespread rainfall is very unlikely that day.
Showers return with another disturbance by Monday afternoon and that rain stays with us, off and on, through the end of the week.
A series of rain-making disturbances will pass through next week, each offering rain showers and rumbles of thunder. Timing will be made more specific as we get closer to each day. It won’t rain all day every day, but we will certainly have a lot of cloudy days and rain drops coming our way.
By the end of the week, a more powerful storm system may impact our region, with storms that will need to be monitored.

It’s an active day across much of the country. A winter storm is bringing a variety of wintry weather and strong winds to the Pacific Northwest and into the plains. Severe storms threaten western Texas. More wintry weather threatens New England today, as well.
Records
On the morning of March 13, 1993 the Cumberland Plateau awoke to a blizzard. By the time the storm had ended, Jamestown had recorded the greatest snowfall total ever recorded in all of Middle Tennessee, with a whopping 26 inches of snow on the ruler. Crossville set a snowfall total record with 20.5 inches of snow officially recorded.
Strong and gusty winds created snowdrifts that were several feet deep. The storm produced record cold temperatures by the morning of the 14th.

I meant to mention that yesterday was 108th birthday of the Girl Scouts in the United States! NASA did a shout-out to all the Girl Scouts, noting that many of them have gone on to excel to the point of becoming astronauts! Happy belated birthday, Girl Scouts!

Registration for the next MASTER science class for kids will open on Monday. Hopefully the corona virus won’t disrupt those class plans.
The next class will be Monday, March 23 at 4:30 at Roane State. The topic is to be determined.
