Weather Update 5:15

We’re still looking fine weather-wise, but a watch may be issued for the counties to the south of Cumberland County. This is due to some storms in Alabama trying to slip across the border. Cumberland and Fentress Counties are not highlighted in any risk for this evening.

The area circled in red is where the Storm Prediction Center is considering issuing a watch of some sort. They state the chance of a watch being issued is 40%. There are currently no watches or warnings in Tennessee. Our atmosphere is more stable up here on the plateau than it is across southern Middle TN. I’ll keep an eye on things and let you know if anything changes.

FYI, so far the severe weather outbreak for Mississippi and Alabama hasn’t been as bad as it could have been. Let’s hope for their sake that stays true. Instead of isolated supercells with powerful tornadoes, they’re dealing with a line of severe storms with occasional spin-ups.
