Forecast Discussion & Concerns
We go from more than 100 hours of subfreezing temps to a five-day outlook with no subfreezing temps, as a warming trend begins in earnest today! By the end of the week, temps will be in the 50s! Winds will be increasing from the south today, becoming quiet gusty by Thursday and Friday. That warmer air will bring rain chances back into the region by Friday.
With warmer temps continuing for the start of the new year, along with another storm system on the way, I’ll be monitoring for more rain and storm chances. The Storm Prediction Center is now highlighting areas of Tennessee for severe storms on Monday (seen below). I’ll be tracking that threat eastward. Right now, it isn’t clear just how intense those storms will be when they reach us. I’ll be monitoring closely.
