Severe Weather Awareness Week
Today’s topic is weather radios. These radios can provide life-saving warnings in the middle of the night, when most of our severe storms threaten our area. I have a link on my website for information on programming those radios and which one I most recommend. Find that link at https://meteorologistmark.com/noaa-weather-radio/
EMA director Travis Cole and I will be programming weather radios at Twister movie night at the Palace Saturday night. I’ll also be programming those at Grinder Coffee House on Saturday, March 4, from 11:00-1:00. Come out and get that radio programmed or just chat! I’ll see ya there!

Weather Summary
While we will have some isolated showers areound today, the next best chance for rain comes Saturday, when much of the plateau should pick up some rainfall. Those rain chances fall off for Sunday, before picking back up Monday with a more powerful storm system.
The storm system that will bring us rain and storms on Monday will likely produce significant severe weather across the southern plains. Those big storms will weaken as they move east, but we may still have a risk for a strong or even severe storm from that system.
The Storm Prediction Center is now highlighting our area in a low-end threat for severe storms for Monday. I’ll monitor that closely.
There continues to be no significant cold air in sight.
