2001- High winds topple the steel radio tower for WGNS-AM. The tower was built in 1946 and stood 328 feet tall. It was Murfreesboro’s tallest structure. Damage to the tower is estimated between $250,000 and $500,000.
1921 – Two-mile-high Silver Lake, Colorado, received 76 inches of snow in 24 hours, the heaviest 24-hour total of record for North America. The storm left a total of 87 inches in twenty-seven and a half hours.
1949 – A hailstone five inches by five and a half inches in size, and weighing four pounds, was measured at Troy, New York.
