Thursday Severe Storms

Today’s data is trending toward an active Thursday on the plateau. In response to this trend, the Storm Prediction Center has now expanded the slight risk as far south as Fentress County. I expect Cumberland County to be added to this before all is said and done. Damaging straight-line winds will be the main threat with any storm that forms.

I will have a special update tonight at 8:00 to give you the latest analysis of this severe weather threat and to give a better idea on timing. Right now, it looks like 10:00 a.m – 2:00 pm. for the threat timeframe.

I should note that the hazy skies you see today or the result of smoke from more Canadian wildfires. That smoke is up in the sky, thank goodness, and is not expected to have any impact on breathing on those of us here on the surface.

You all take care and I’ll see ya at 8:00!
