Record High/Low for today: 91/33
On this day in 1999, Crab Orchard reported marble to golfball-size hail that covered the ground three inches deep on I-40! One residence measured seven inches of accumulated hail! Over a half dozen wreckers were sent to clear the accidents on the interstate. Traffic was backed up for 12 miles to the Roane County line. There were four injuries. Snow plows were used to clear the hail off the interstate.
