Summary

The Storm Prediction Center has outlined an area, as seen below by the red line, where they are considering a severe thunderstorm watch across Middle TN. As you can see, there is a break in the precip across an area from Nashville to Huntsville. This is allowing the atmosphere to destabilize there. Also, notice the storms developing across West TN. There are indications that some storms could contain hail up to the size of golfballs, due to the cold air aloft that I mentioned this morning. I’ll keep an eye on all of this as it moves across the state today.

Threats

The main threats will be damaging winds and large hail, though an isolated brief spin-up tornado cannot be ruled out.

We continue to be outlined in a slight risk for severe storms, which is level 2 out of 5.
