ForecastSummary
The storms that were causing the greatest concern are skirting the TN/KY border and movine eastward. Outflow from this complex of storms is pushing souhward, which is causing some new development all along the TN/KY border and even a heavy shower in northern Fentress County. That outflow is the result of rain cooled air left behind by the complex of storms. That air is trying to move southward and acts as a sort of cold front, on which new storms can fire off in this hot, humid, and unstable environment. Some of these storms may track more southeastward through the evening and I’ll be keeping an eye on that.
As you all know, it’s hot and humid outside and it won’t take much to set off a storm. We remain in a marginal risk for severe storms through the evening.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed the plateau in the MARGINAL RISK for today.

ForecastSummary
A line of strong to severe storms is currently moving into western Kentucky. That complex of storms will move east as we go through the evening. There is a possibility that some of that will dip south onto the plateau this evening. If those storms affect us, they will bring the risk of severe storms. I’ll keep a close eye on things. Severe t-storm watches extend to the KY/TN border until 7:00 p.m. Those of you nearest the Kentucky border have the greatest risk of a severe storm from this. However, I’ll keep a close eye on this for all of us.

Yesterday’s complex of storm skirted the plateau to the east. Notice how the complex of storms rode around the edge of the area of high pressure.
Tropics
The National Hurricane Center is tracking a disturbance that could become a tropical storm by this weekend in the Bahamas. The system is aimed in a concerning direction… It now looks like the storm could affect the eastern Gulf.
Drought Monitor
The Drought Monitor updates each Thursday. This map updated on July 25.
While some of you have seen substantial rainfall over the past week, the greater rainfall amounts are too isolated to cancel the effects of the much more widespread drought.
