UPDATE
Storms are showing a gradual weakening trend and we can hope that continues. At this time, the severe t-storm warnings to the west of you folks in Overton, Pickett, and Fentress counties have been allowed to expire. Those storms look far less impressive than they did an hour ago.
As for the tornado warning that I was watching near Franklin…that warning was allowed to expire when the storm reached Murfreesboro. They may reissue that warning, but it’s a good sign when the storm shows a struggle to maintain rotation.
I’m starting to hear some thunder and I’ve been seeing some flashes of lightning to my north at this hour.
The most concerning storm to me is the one near Murfreesboro. That storm, if it stays on course, would likely impact the southern half of Cumberland County around the 2:00 a.m. hour. We’ll hope it continues to weaken, but I’ll keep an eye on it.
A tornado watch is in effect until 3:00 a.m. for the Cumberland Plateau.
Stay tuned for updates through the night.
